The VC Legacy Foundation
History
VC Legacy was established in 2005 by Michelle E. Hargrove, who has worked extensively with the March of Dimes and other non-profits for over 10 years, “fighting to save babies from premature births” and decrease the number of high-risk pregnancies. Inspiration for VC Legacy came after the birth of her first child—Viktor—who arrived prematurely at 24 weeks, weighing 1 pound, 7 ounces. Through her personal understanding of the immediate and long-term effects, as well as the long-term care that can be required of a premature child, Michelle has facilitated several national and community events to increase awareness among women with high risk pregnancies with regard to prematurity. VC Legacy is created in honor of her two children—Viktor and Christian.
Founder
Michelle is the President and CEO of VC Legacy. In 2005 and 2006 consecutively, Michelle was the keynote speaker at the Christian Women’s Leadership Luncheon for the March of Dimes. Also in 2005, she founded the Viktor’s Choice Awards, a Party with a Purpose, in honor of her eldest son’s 10th birthday. The awards ceremony was held in November in recognition of National Prematurity Awareness Month; sponsors included Chick-Fil-A and the Hilton hotel chain. Michelle has worked with several organizations, including TD Jakes Ministries as an on site conference coordinator. She also own MHargrove Events, an elegant event planning service for special events and conferences.
